Our Origin Story

A group of senior individuals from local and national organisations in Bristol founded the Bristol Future Talent Partnership. The group noticed a troubling absence of representation from the global majority, particularly young people from Black, Asian, and other marginalised backgrounds.

Motivated by this gap, research was untaken through the Runnymede Trust and the Ruby McGregor reports. The group discovered a deeper issue: despite Bristol’s multicultural identity, systemic segregation and inequality persist. Nationally, academic outcomes, such as GCSEs and A-levels, for students from these communities fall below the average. Many young people experience an underlying sense of exclusion, racism, and a lack of belonging.

From the data and learning, Bristol Future Talent Partnership was born out of a commitment to change this narrative. The charity aims to empower young people from underrepresented backgrounds to realise their potential, unlock their talent, and build a future that positively impacts not only their own lives but also their families and communities..
